Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is deliberately broad and balanced to give all our students the opportunity to explore an exciting learning journey that will prepare them for KS4 and beyond.
Students in Year 7, 8 and 9 study:
Design and Technology
English Language and Literature
Food Technology and Textiles (Students will spend half the year in Food Technology or Textiles then swap after February Half Term)
Modern languages (Either French or German in Y7 with the addition of Spanish in Y8 and Y9)
Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE)
Physical Education including Dance
Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all our students have the right opportunities to make excellent progress which is demonstrated through regular marking, feedback and assessment.
Students are set based on prior attainment and ongoing assessments in Mathematics and Science and are taught in their mixed ability tutor groups for all other subjects. Students will find that teaching in all subjects is varied, interesting and delivered well so that they know how to make progress and what the teacher expects from them. Homework is set according to a homework timetable and all teachers offer individual support both in the lesson and outside it when required.
All the subjects listed above will appear on students’ timetables with the exception of PSHCE which is delivered through a series of drop-down days across the school year. This allows us to invite outside speakers, visitors, theatre groups and other agencies into school to give maximum benefit to our students’ education.
