At KS4 all our students follow a core curriculum of GCSEs in English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and science.
Our science options mean that all students achieve at least one GCSE in combined sciences, most achieve two GCSEs in additional science and a significant group of students achieve three GCSEs in the separate sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The correct science pathway for each student is discussed during Y9 as students make their GCSE option choices, and we have the flexibility to switch between pathways during KS4.
Our main aim is to ensure that every student is on the best and most appropriate course for them so that they can progress to the next level of education or employment and training.
Students also choose from the following GCSE options:
Design and Technology – Food Technology
Design and Technology – Resistant Materials
Physical Education including Dance
In addition, the following BTEC qualifications are offered:
BTEC First Certificate in Dance
BTEC First Certificate in Health and Social Care
Students are allowed to choose a combination of four GCSE or BTEC subjects. Most students will take a combination that ensures they qualify for the English Baccalaureate which will include a modern language, History, Geography and / or Computing.
