Congratulations to all our Year 13 students on achieving great results!
Cambridge Success for Priory Student
A student at The Priory CofE School in Dorking has had her place at Cambridge University confirmed today after she achieved top grades in her A Levels this summer.
Lauren was awarded A* grades in Geography and Product Design, and a grade A in Maths. She will start her course reading Geography at the prestigious university this autumn. Lauren has been a student at the school since Year 7 and believes she has particularly benefited from the small class sizes and personal attention she has received, as well as expert teaching in Geography, Maths and Design Technology as a student in the sixth form.
Lauren’s success was not isolated. Jamie also achieved an A* in English Literature, A grades in Economics and History, and an A* for his Extended Project Qualification. He will take up a place at Loughborough University in the autumn term, reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Jamie joined The Priory School two years ago as a sixth form student and has thrived in its environment both academically and socially.
Phil Harrison, the Head of Sixth Form at the school, said
‘The hard work of our students has been recognised in this year’s A Level and BTEC outcomes and every single student has been awarded the grades they deserve.’ He went on to recognise the achievements of this cohort. ‘I am very proud of all our students’ achievements. Lauren and Jamie have done exceptionally well, but every one of our students should be pleased and proud of their results. This year has been really hard for them and we know most of our students were truly disappointed that they did not take their final exams or finish the year as they expected. However, our students have done really well and will not have to go through life apologising for their results. Their consistent hard work has paid off and they can move on with their heads held high and genuine pride in their achievements.’
All the students who applied for university places have been awarded them, with other students going on to study Biomedical Science at University of Kent, Music at Chichester University and Ocean Science with Marine Conservation at University of Plymouth, amongst many other places.
The Priory School is currently recruiting students for places in the sixth form and has recently formed a new partnership with Dorking Wanderers Football Academy as its A level provider. Anyone interested in joining the school’s sixth form can apply through the school website.
